What's a weed wiper?

Sally looked across her property, Horses to her right and open fields to her left.

She has rented this property for years. Not once, has owner ever put any love and attention into improvements.. Probably just going to develop it one day. She thought to herself as she looked over at her horses once more.

Sally was sick of looking at these weed filled paddocks and wanted to make a difference. Not just for her horses but for her bank account too.

With weeds suffocating the grass and making up 70% of the existing forage. Having to buy hard feed to keep condition on her horses was her reality and Is financially draining! That financial drain was consistent. Sally had enough.

Sally didn't own much property maintenance equipment like a boom sprayer, so she sent an email to her local hire company, Holbrook Hire.

"That's a lot of weeds sally." Andrea, from Holbrook hire said on the phone.

"With weeds such as dock, carrot week, paspalum, Thistle, Dog fennel & Tar weed. I recommend the weed wiper. It's Perfect for situations where weeds grow taller than the grass, Just like yours.

Plus, You can finally answer the question everyone asks.. How do I kill paspalum in my paddocks without killing my grass?

Well, The weed wiper!"

The silence on the phone felt like it lasted forever as sally thought about how she can kill the horrible and sticky paspalum without killing her grass at the same time.

"hello? are you there sally"

Sally snapped out of her thoughts "Sorry... What is a weed Wiper? Do I need a tractor to tow it? Cause I don't have one of those."

"Great question! A weed wiper only needs a atv/utv or vehicle to tow it. Anything with a tow bar. We also hire UTV's out if that's something you need.

So a weed wiper is.. to put it simply.. Something that wipes weeds! It's fully adjustable.

You set it above your grass, so it only makes contact with the weeds.

If you have really long grass it can help to graze it first, but not essential. Put your chemicals/herbicides of choice into the tank and it transfers the chemicals to the wicks, The wicks then wipe the chemicals onto the weeds. But, not before the bruise bar at the front mildly injures the weeds, making the chemicals even more effective."

"That sounds Interesting, I see you have a boom sprayer on your website. Why not that? I also want to mention, We have a really small property and Im worried about how weed spraying will effect the paddocks my horses will need to be grazing next door to where I'm spraying" Sally Questioned.

"So the boom sprayer would be great if you have a field of buttercup or other low growing weeds you want to kill, As well as fertilising your soil and Ideally when It's not windy. Using the weed wiper you can target and get the weeds specifically, You don't get any wind drift which can be wasteful as well as damaging to other plants.

Wind drift can get into fields where your horses are grazing. Particularly, as you said, if your property is not very big.

Wind drift, Effecting the grass where your horses are needing to gaze, Is not ideal. Including, possibly getting into water troughs or water ways. With the weed wiper, you don't need to worry about that."

Sally though long and hard, This sounds wonderful.

I can save money on chemicals as i'll use less, it will target the weeds specifically and I don't have to worry about the wind drifting the spray off and causing issues!

"Brilliant" sally said, "i'll hire it".

Sally Collected the weed wiper, Hooked it onto her Atv and got to work with making her paddocks a little bit better than they were before.

The satisfaction she felt as she drove over the tall weeds throughout the paddock, made her smile.

Even more satisfying as she drove back the other way, Knowing it's done it's job when she see's the dye on the weeds she was targeting and not on the grass below, It was a brilliant feeling.

She knows that in a few days they will all be wilting away.

She knows she has saved money by not having to spray more than necessary and with it's targeting system.

She can be confident she is being environmentally friendly, with no wind drift into ponds, or water ways.

And, she can be peace of mind that no excess is being blown into water troughs or into paddocks where the horses need to graze.
